I’d like to tell you a story about a young man who was looking for a college and wanted God to lead him. He decided God wanted him to go to either Alabama or Auburn to play on their football team. As he visited Auburn, Pat Dye showed him around campus and the young man told him he would pray about it to see if that is where God wanted him to be. Next he visited Alabama and as the late Bear Bryant showed him around, the young man said he would pray to see where the Lord would lead him. Bear Bryant said, “Son, I appreciate you letting the Lord lead you and I agree 100 %. Do you believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God?” “Why yes, I do,” replied the boy. “Then look up Ezekiel 20:29 and see where God recommends.” And as the boy looked, he read the scripture, “…where is the high place you go to? It is called BAMAh.” The boy immediately played for the Crimson Tide.
I have always been a Bama fan. Wherever I go I’m proud to say that I’m from Alabama and that I pull for the Crimson Tide and we have won 16 national championships. In the same way we should be proud that we represent Jesus Christ as we take a stand for Him. It’s not easy in a world that says sin is OK. As Christians we must strive to be His light in a dark world. We must be different. Vinemont Christian Church is striving to become His servants as we love each other, encourage each other, and take a stand for Jesus Christ as we share Him with the lost. Let me challenge you to put Jesus first in your life and live the life for Him daily.
